Acura holds the distinction of becoming the first Japanese automotive luxury brandnew. The creation of Acura coincided with the coming of a JDM Honda dealership revenue channel, called Honda Clio, that sold luxury vehicles, joining previously recognized Honda Verno, followed by Honda Primo the next year. As Acura’s product line grew in the 1990s, but the business struggled a little. A number of its goods were duds, and it risked alienating loyal clients when it replaced both the Legend and Integra titles using alphanumeric designations. The company jumped to the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-’90s with all the SLX. Sadly, the SLX was a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its own quality didn’t match customers’ expectations.
For the new millennium, Acura revived its product variety. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, like a third-row seat. The Integra was replaced using the RSX sport coupe, along with an all-new entry sport sedan called the TSX was released then. A complete redesign of its popular version, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.
